Speech & Language

The Speech Pathology Department in Livonia Public Schools strives to provide the best treatment possible for all students with communication delays and disorders in our district. Through on-going professional development, we continue to learn about and implement the best evidenced-based therapy practices available. We are committed to addressing the needs of individual students, and providing quality therapeutic interventions for students with articulation, fluency, voice, and language delays and disorders.

The services of the speech pathologist are mandated under special education rules and regulations. Many students we treat are identified with a specific speech/language disorder. However, our services may also be included as treatment for students impacted by a variety of disabilities, which could include autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and cognitive impairments.

Each school building in the Livonia Public Schools is staffed with a speech language pathologist. Some speech language pathologists travel between two school buildings. To determine who the speech language pathologist is for your child's school, please reference the staff list on your building's website for the person's name and e-mail address, or call your school building for more details.

If you believe your child has delays or disorders which may require the intervention of a speech language pathologist, contact your child's teacher or the speech language pathologist assigned to your school building. They will help you to start the process of evaluation. If your child is a preschooler, and you believe they may require an evaluation, you may contact the administrator at Perrinville Early Childhood Center:
