Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!
It is a great honor to be able to serve as the media specialist at Cooper Upper Elementary where I have the privilege of working with all of our students at least once a week to help them learn how to use information, literature and technology to create, communicate, and collaborate with others.
This is my 26th year in Livonia Public Schools where I have served as a classroom teacher as well as a technology specialist in the curriculum department. I love working with students and am passionate about incorporating technology into the curriculum. I also enjoy providing staff members with professional development on the use of technology in the classroom.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a major in mathematics and a minor is social sciences from Eastern Michigan University. I received my first Master's Degree in Educational Technology from Eastern Michigan University and my second Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from Wayne State University. As a life long learner, I read a lot, take classes and attend conferences any chance I get!
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three children. I love running and usually do a couple of races a year, including the Detroit Free Press half-marathon. This year my husband and I participated in our second Wish-A-Mile Bicycle Tour where we rode our bikes 100 miles a day for three consecutive days across Michigan to raise awareness and funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I believe that it is important to sharpen your saw and find balance in your life as well as to share our many gifts.
I look forward to a year filled with exciting new learning opportunities for your children! Please feel free to contact me anytime if you ever have any questions, concerns, or suggestions!
