Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year! My name is Tara Daraskavich and I will be your child’s Sixth Grade teacher! It is with great enthusiasm that I write this letter of introduction to you. This week your child will complete yet another important milestone in his/her life, beginning Sixth Grade! Sixth Graders test the waters of independence and begin to discover who they really are. I understand that you and your child may have met this day with excitement and/or apprehension. I hope this letter will provide you with some valuable information about what you can expect in Sixth Grade.
Meet Mrs. D: I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University with a focus in Elementary Education. I also received my Master’s Degree in Teaching and Curriculum from Michigan State. This will be my fourteenth year teaching and my fifth year teaching at Cooper.
When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. We have three beautiful daughters. Ava is 6, Madeline is 4, and Sylvia is eight months old. Our girls bring so much joy into our lives! My husband is beginning his seventh year as the principal of Cleveland Elementary. I come from a family of M.S.U. grads. We go to most of the football games and are HUGE Spartan fans! Don’t be surprised if your child comes home from school humming the Spartan fight song!
As an educator, I strongly believe that all children can learn. It is my goal to take children from where they are and provide them with a learning environment that will enable them to grow academically, emotionally, and socially to their highest potential. I look forward to sharing many learning and growing experiences with both you and your child throughout the upcoming year. I feel honored that I get to partner with you during this exciting time in your child’s life!
Together we can make this school year a rich and exciting experience for your child. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. I am available before or after school to meet with you. Please send a note or you can reach me quickly by e-mail.
